"Fair trade" an organized social movement and business model that aims to help producers in developing countries have better trading conditions and promote sustainability. "Fair trade" practices are designed so family farmers with small plots of land receive a fair wage for their produce and use methods that are good for the environment. The fair trade movement advocates the payment of a higher price to producers as well as higher social and environmental standards. Fair trade focuses in particular on exports from developing countries - especially on items such as handicrafts, coffee, cocoa, sugar, tea, flowers, fruit, and chocolate. This is not an exhaustive list of "fair trade" groups and sellers, but should point you in the right direction.
